Open Studio Session

Open Studio - work independently in 4 sessions monthly on Tuesdays or Thursdays

3 hrTOCA

Service Description

A weekly 3-hour independent studio session, held Tuesdays and Thursdays, during designated studio hours. The Open Studio format is ideal for those who want to work independently and explore personal ceramic projects in a supportive, well-equipped environment. You’ll have access to the studio once a week, giving you the freedom to create at your own pace. What’s included • Dedicated shelf space to store and manage your work • One bisque firing and one glaze firing per month • Access to studio tools, engobes, and a clear shiny transparent glaze Clay is not included. You may purchase white clay at TOCA for €10 per 10kg pack, or source your clay elsewhere. If using external clay or materials, please check with me in advance to ensure compatibility with TOCA’s firing temperatures and kiln settings. Firings & kiln use: Firings are planned as one monthly firing cycle, meaning artists are encouraged to build and collect work until a full kiln load is ready. Because of this, kiln usage may be retroactive, with work produced earlier in the month fired once the kiln is full. Additional firings can be arranged for €15 per two kiln shelves. TOCA manages all kiln operations. When you feel your work is ready for firing, please let me know in advance and, during one of your Open Studio sessions, I will help you load your pieces into the kiln. Open Studio participants do not operate the kiln. If you choose to use TOCA’s clear shiny transparent glaze, I will glaze your work for you, and I will handle all kiln loading and unloading. While this is an independent working format, I will be present in the studio to answer questions or offer guidance when needed. However, please note that Open Studio time is primarily self-directed, as I will be actively working on other studio tasks during these sessions. The monthly plan of 4 sessions is valid for one billing month from the date of purchase. Unused sessions expire at the end of each billing month and do not carry over. While TOCA provides a supportive studio environment and manages all kiln firings, participants are fully responsible for their own work throughout the entire creation process. TOCA is not responsible for cracks, warping, breakage, glaze results, or other flaws that may occur during drying and firing. Ceramic processes involve inherent risks, and results cannot be guaranteed.
